Definition of Nerve:
A nerve is an enclosed, cable-like bundle of axons (the long, slender projections of neurons) in the peripheral nervous system.
Types of Nerves:
Sensory Nerves:
A nerve that passes impulses from receptors toward or to the central nervous system and have axons of sensory neurons.
Motor Nerves:
A nerve carrying impulses from the brain or spinal cord to a muscle or gland and have axons of only motor neurons
Mixed Nerves: Mixed nerves have axons of both motor and sensory neurons.
